At Longmeadow Game Resort the dove population is booming. On any given day, there are doves flying everywhere. With all of the surrounding farm ground, the doves have all the food and water that they need to prosper. The dove hunting at Longmeadow is exceptional.  In September, it is not uncommon to hear the familiar roar of a shotgun and see dove hunters limit out before they go home.  At Longmeadow Game Resort, we offer some of the best dove hunting in Colorado.  Come hunt with us!

At Longmeadow, there are two ponds that consistently provide great dove hunting.  Both of the ponds are right next to feed plots and are surrounded by cottonwoods, so getting doves to come in is never a problem. Even if you are just hunting near a clump of trees there are always a few doves to shoot. It doesn't matter if you are new to the sport, keeping in practice for pheasant season, an expert hunter or you just love the tast of a grilled dove breast, this is the place to fill your freezer.

General Information

The Mourning Dove is a member of the pigeon family, it is similar in many aspects. While the pigeon has a blue tipped tail the dove does not, the doves tail is more uniformly gray and pointed. A dove has a buff colored underside with a grayish-brown back. The dove will also have black spots on the wing coverts and near the ears. Doves have black narrow beaks with brown eyes and dull red legs.
